Water is one of the most critical resources of the 21st century. At the same time, digital transformation is opening up new opportunities through sensor technology, data platforms, digital twins and AI. With the Global WATER AI Academy, Wilo brings these fields together for applications in analysis and control, and for questions relating to the resilience of smart water systems in cities, regions and industries.

Our impact
The Wilo Global WATER AI Academy is rooted in our overarching Group Strategy, „Pioneering WATER AI for You“.
Wilo’s solutions, some of which use AI-based functions, are applied in digital systems for measuring and controlling water flows in urban infrastructure. In addition, digital solutions can provide data for managing specific water systems and help describe individual system functions more precisely. Digital solutions can also support demand-based irrigation control in agricultural applications.
The Academy also examines AI applications for water-related infrastructure in the healthcare sector. Digital infrastructure such as data centres may also require water-related systems, depending on the cooling concept used. Wilo develops solutions for measuring and controlling water flows in selected digital infrastructure.
In this context, the Academy explores how digital technologies and AI can be used in specific water management applications.
The academy
The Global WATER AI Academy is an international platform for innovation, education and collaboration. It combines industrial practice with academic cooperation and actively supports the development of skills at the intersection of water and AI.
Innovation
Key formats include the development of specific use cases, living labs, hackathons and incubation programmes. These formats are designed to develop and test digital and AI-based applications.
Education
Together with academic partners, the Academy develops online modules. Their scope and any possible credit-point recognition depend on the respective university programme. Additional formats include international guest lectures, practice-oriented training formats and working student programmes. The aim is to link sound academic knowledge directly with real application cases.
Co-operation
The Academy acts as a hub for research collaborations, roadshows, conferences and global partner networks.
It works closely with its partners, and these partnerships form the starting point for a growing global network of science, business and society.
