Sustainable transformation requires reliable framework conditions and the exchange of different perspectives.
As a globally active water technology company, the Wilo Group operates at the intersection of infrastructure and energy, digitalization and water management. Political decisions in these areas influence how our solutions can be developed and used.
Wilo therefore participates in dialogue at national and international level and contributes experience from markets and development to these discussions. This makes it possible to connect practical challenges from industry with political and social perspectives.
A current example of this is the Wilo Industry Conference 2025 in Venice. Under the title “Water – Shaping the Future”, representatives from politics, academia, and business came together. The focus was on the future of the water sector, dealing with water scarcity, artificial intelligence, and the European Blue Deal. The conference was held jointly with the European Water Association.

With the Wilo Industry Conference, the Wilo Group creates a platform where different perspectives on key future issues come together.
The event format combines technical expertise with political, academic, and business perspectives. This creates spaces for discussion in which not only technological possibilities are addressed, but also questions of regulation, social responsibility, and long-term feasibility.
The conference in Venice in 2025 illustrated this approach particularly clearly. The discussion on water scarcity and Europe’s water transition was linked with the question of how artificial intelligence can contribute to more resilient water systems. In this way, dialogue becomes a means of bringing together different interests and exploring shared options for action.
Contributing knowledge to political dialogue
Social and political dialogue depends on reliable experience and concrete knowledge. Wilo therefore contributes its expertise from practice – for example in efficient water management, resilient infrastructure, digitalization, and the use of artificial intelligence. The aim is not to consider technological developments in isolation, but also to take into account their significance for people, cities, companies, and public infrastructure.
Wilo also contributes this perspective at international events. At the UN 2023 Water Conference in New York, Wilo was part of the German delegation. This involved us in an international dialogue on the future of global water resources.
Networks for a future-ready water sector
Societal challenges go beyond borders. This is why international networks are needed in which knowledge, experience, and different interests come together.
The Wilo Group is involved in national and international associations and organizations. A shared objective of many of these cooperations is the sustainable use of water and natural resources. Wilo sees such networks as an opportunity to work together with other stakeholders on solutions to complex challenges.
This also involves bringing together experience from different regions. Challenges in the water sector vary worldwide, as do regulatory, economic, and social framework conditions. In this way, exchange is created that connects local experience with global questions.
Wilopark as a place for social dialogue
Dialogue needs places where people can come together. With the Networking Cube at Wilopark in Dortmund, Wilo has created such a space. This center for meetings with market partners brings together guests from business, politics, society, academia, and finance and provides space for events, conferences, and exchange.
Wilo explicitly sees the Networking Cube as a place to exchange knowledge, deepen partnerships, and work together on sustainable solutions. In this way, social dialogue has also become a spatial part of Wilo’s corporate culture.
Practical example: Discussing water together
One example of this approach was the water summit at Wilopark, organized by the Circular Valley Initiative together with experts from business and politics. Wilopark provided the setting to discuss questions relating to water and sustainability across sectors. Formats like these bring together the perspectives of companies, political stakeholders, and other social actors and create points of connection for joint approaches.
Wilo also relies on this exchange at current industry events. At IFAT 2026, Wilo welcomed not only numerous international visitors but also high-ranking political guests. The focus was on resilient water and wastewater infrastructures, energy efficiency, and the role of digitalization and AI.
Global WATER AI Academy as a platform for social dialogue
The Global WATER AI Academy brings together education, innovation, and social-policy dialogue.
It brings together experts from the water sector, academia, politics, and technology to jointly discuss the future of sustainable water infrastructures. This is not only about technological developments, but also about questions of governance, regulation, and social responsibility.
In this way, the Academy creates a platform where new ideas emerge, knowledge is shared, and international networks grow.
It therefore contributes to actively supporting the framework conditions for a digital and sustainable water sector.
