Quality management
On this page:
Defined testing and approval steps along key development and supply processes: Wilo aligns its quality management with defined requirements across key processes in the value chain. In doing so, we involve relevant internal and external stakeholders in quality management. The aim is to take into account and review the defined quality and reliability requirements for products, systems, and solutions within the respective processes. In this way, we help shape a forward-looking approach to quality assurance. We continue to develop this approach as part of our Quality Management 4.0 activities, with a stronger focus on early-stage testing, cross-functional collaboration, and clearly defined quality processes.
Preventive risk management
Risks identified early and reduced in a targeted manner
To identify risks affecting product reliability, assess them before market launch, and reduce them where possible through suitable measures, Wilo uses defined analysis and assessment processes. The aim is to regularly review and improve relevant technical parameters during the development process. This helps identify and reduce potential causes of failure before series readiness.
Our risk management includes:
Review of technical risks and measures
Failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA)
Field tests
Laboratory testing
Assessment of reliability in selected phases of the product life cycle
Laboratory tests are used to examine materials and components before and during development under defined stress scenarios, as well as to test the function of finished products under specific test conditions. Based on specific customer requirements, we develop standardized and specific scenarios and test relevant functions of our products.
Our laboratory tests include:
Functional tests
Material tests
Long-term / aging tests
Supplier selection
Material quality reviewed early on the basis of defined control points
Before each new product development project, Wilo analyzes the supplier environment and identifies suitable project partners based on the relevant requirements. Ongoing material tests and process controls help ensure that relevant quality characteristics are assessed on the basis of defined testing steps already during the sampling process, i.e. in the early phase of product development.
Our measures include:
Remote audits
Interactive drawing reviews
Process reviews
Employee qualification
Actively shaping change
Digital transformation is changing working methods and roles in quality management. Instead of checking product and material quality reactively at goods receipt and dispatch, employees now use forward-looking data to support key process steps in quality management. Wilo actively promotes digital skills and agile ways of working.
Our qualification measures include:
Digital process management
Intercultural competence
Agile collaboration based on Gemba principles
Digitalisation and collaboration
Use of digital methods to support processes
Processes and standards in quality management are continuously evolving. In selected areas, simulations, AI-supported projections, and digital forms of collaboration support workflows. Wilo deliberately uses the resulting opportunities to support transparency and traceability in selected processes.
Our digitalization measures take into account:
Analysis of data sources and preparation of selected data for defined quality management applications
Competence networks via social media
Under defined conditions, digital remote acceptance and remote maintenance for suitable applications
