Promoting the health of our employees

As a company, we are committed to promote the health of our employees.

We offer preventive and curative measures to support their physical and mental health.

Good health is vital to ensuring people can contribute their skills in the long term and feel safe and comfortable in their working environment. In a changing world of work, this involves not only protection against work-related risks, but also prevention, physical movement, ergonomic working conditions and a conscious, mindful approach to dealing with mental health.

Wilo therefore regards health promotion as a blend of different measures and services. From occupational health and safety measures and flexible working arrangements to medical care and prevention, we create conditions that help employees stay healthy and perform at their best.

Occupational health and safety and ergonomics at work

Good health starts with a safe working environment

Safety and ergonomics are essential to a healthy workplace. In production, logistics, office work and customer service, clear requirements and processes are in place to identify risks at an early stage and minimise strain in day-to-day work as far as possible.

International occupational safety and health standards, regular training, and continuous improvement processes provide an important foundation. In addition, workstations are designed to be ergonomic and technical aids are used where they can assist staff in carrying out their tasks.

Case study: Digital Worker Assistance

Digital tools can help to make workflows clearer and more transparent. In production, Digital Worker Assistance supports employees with step-by-step, intuitively structured instructions right at the workstation.

The relevant steps are presented in a structured way, making them easier to follow. At the same time, information on assembly and testing processes is made available where it is needed. This case study shows how digital technologies can support workflows and help connect guidance, quality, and workplace safety.

Prevention as part of a holistic approach to promoting health

Addressing health at an early stage

Health promotion starts long before problems arise. Preventive initiatives can help to raise awareness of health issues early on, impart knowledge, and promote a conscious, mindful approach to managing physical and mental strain.

That is why Wilo’s health programme includes initiatives focusing on exercise, preventive care and health literacy, in addition to traditional measures for occupational safety and health. This reflects the different needs arising from working conditions, life circumstances and individual requirements. This results in a broad-based approach that regards prevention as an integral part of the working environment.

Flexible working arrangements for different life circumstances

Making work flexible

Working life and personal circumstances change. Depending on the role and location, flexible work arrangements can help employees reconcile different needs more easily.

Wilo provides a framework for this, including flexible working hours and hybrid working arrangements, provided they are compatible with the relevant tasks. Family-friendly arrangements can also help employees achieve a better work-life balance.

Flexibility thus becomes an integral part of a working environment that takes different life circumstances into account and gives employees greater freedom to shape their own working lives.

Promoting mental health

Mental health is part of the bigger picture

Health encompasses both physical and mental wellbeing. Heavier workloads, changes, new technologies or personal challenges can change the demands placed on employees.

A responsible health culture therefore also leaves room to address mental health. Information, prevention programmes and suitable support services can help address strain at an early stage and improve health literacy.

It is important to have a working environment where mental health can be discussed openly and support is readily available.

Health Cube at Wilopark in Dortmund

Medical care, prevention and exercise, all under one roof

With the Health Cube at Wilopark in Dortmund, Wilo brings together a range of health and prevention services in one central location.

The health centre combines medical care, diagnostics, treatment, physiotherapy, and training and prevention services. It also offers mental health support and digital services.

This creates a health programme that integrates various aspects and provides staff with easy access to a range of services.

The Health Cube is a prime example of the Wilo Group’s holistic approach: health care is not reduced to occupational safety and health or individual preventive measures, but addresses different areas of life and work.

As well as being used by staff and their families, the Health Cube has been made partially open to the public. General practitioners and preventative health courses are available to people across the region. This allows the Wilo Group to enhance its health and wellbeing services for staff at its Dortmund site and open selected services to the local community.

Supporting health through digital services

Technology creates access

Digitalisation and AI are also opening up new opportunities for healthcare services. Digital services make information easier to access, complement existing offerings and support flexible use.

The focus here is not on the technology itself, but on its practical benefits for employees. Digital applications can, for instance, help make information and certain healthcare services accessible irrespective of time and place.

A long-term focus on health

Employee health is an important part of responsible company management. Through occupational health and safety measures and ergonomic workstations, preventive and curative support, flexible working arrangements, and medical and digital support services, Wilo creates a framework that helps promote physical and mental health.
