Addressing a range of challenges with water technology
On this page:
Water moves the world – and above all our cities, energy systems, agriculture, healthcare, and digital and AI infrastructure. Wherever water is needed, moved, used, or treated, different requirements come together. At the same time, framework conditions are continuously changing, for example through new technologies, growing cities, changes in energy supply, and shifting climatic conditions.
With our water technology, we develop offerings for a wide range of requirements. In doing so, we combine technical expertise with the possibilities of digitalization and AI and develop solutions that can be adapted to different applications and operating conditions. Creating brings together the areas of action in which Wilo’s technology is used.
With water technology that we consistently develop to be safer and increasingly AI-embedded, we contribute to:
Shaping urban living spaces
Where people live, work, and come together, functioning infrastructure is essential. Buildings, residential districts, and public facilities depend on a reliable supply of water and energy. At the same time, expectations are increasing to operate these systems efficiently and to align their operation more closely with actual requirements.
Our solutions are used in buildings and public infrastructure. By connecting water technology, digital applications, and recorded operating data, operating conditions can be analyzed and systems can be controlled more specifically.
Securing energy intrastructure
The way energy is generated and provided is changing. In addition to the modernization of existing systems, the use of renewable energy sources is becoming increasingly important. As a result, the technical requirements for the systems that generate, transport, and make energy usable are also changing.
Our water technology is used in different areas of energy supply. It supports applications in hydropower plants, for example, and can help further develop existing technologies or replace them with new solutions. Digital functions also create additional possibilities for analyzing and managing systems and processes on a data basis.
Facilitating access to clean water
Clean water and reliable water infrastructure are essential for cities, municipalities, and the people who live there. To ensure that water reaches where it is needed, complex systems must work together reliably – from extraction and treatment to distribution.
Our solutions support a range of processes within water infrastructure. They are used, among other things, in water management and water treatment. The digital collection and evaluation of operating data can also help identify water losses and support more targeted process control.
Improving food security
Where water is scarce or weather conditions become harder to predict, the careful use of available resources becomes increasingly important. Demand-based irrigation can play an important role, especially in regions where agricultural land depends on targeted water supply.
Our solutions are used in irrigation systems for agriculture. When operating data and weather data are combined, irrigation processes can be aligned more appropriately with local conditions. This makes it possible to bring together water availability and agricultural requirements in the control of irrigation systems.
Strengthening healthcare
Healthcare depends on reliable and safe infrastructure. Hospitals, care facilities, and other healthcare institutions require functioning systems for the supply and use of water, particularly under high standards of hygiene and operational reliability.
Our water technology is used in these infrastructures and supports the operation of water systems. This includes, for example, solutions designed to help reduce hygiene-related risks in connection with drinking water and to address the requirements of sensitive facilities.
Enabling the Digital & AI Age
Digital applications and artificial intelligence are changing the way we work, communicate, and use technology. These applications rely on growing digital infrastructure that must be operated reliably and cooled appropriately. This is particularly evident in data centers, where performance depends on robust technical infrastructure.
One example is data center cooling systems, where reliable and demand-based cooling is an important requirement for operating digital infrastructure. Our water technology is used in this context and supports the operation of data centers.
