Wilo set to become the German Hockey Federation’s new main sponsor in 2027
Expanded partnership announced at hockey film premiere
Mönchengladbach/Hamburg. The Wilo Group is significantly expanding its involvement in German field hockey: On 1 January 2027, the multinational water technology group will become the new main sponsor of the German Hockey Federation (DHB) and the shirt sponsor of the German senior national teams. The expanded partnership was announced in Hamburg at the premiere of a documentary on the German men’s national team’s World Cup victory, which Wilo is supporting as a presenting partner.
“The German Hockey Federation stands for sporting success and, through its national teams, has a reach and profile that goes far beyond Germany’s borders. This is especially true for India, where hockey is hugely important. This is precisely where we see great potential for our partnership”, says Oliver Hermes, President & Global CEO of the Wilo Group. “We want to consciously combine our collaboration with social commitment and work together to develop projects that have a long-term impact. The planned activities in India offer excellent conditions for this. We look forward to pursuing this path even more closely with the DHB as the main sponsor from 2027 onwards.”
Magnus Weiand, Executive Board Member for Marketing and Communications at the German Hockey Federation: “We are delighted that Wilo will become a main partner of the German Hockey Federation from January 2027. We share a commitment to developing a partnership that goes beyond visibility and traditional sponsorship. It is precisely the internationalisation of our activities that offers great opportunities to do so. India is an incredibly exciting market for the DHB, with a huge passion for hockey. Together with Wilo, we want to expand our activities there in the long term and support the next generation.”
The partnership between Wilo and the DHB began in April 2026 at the Premium Partner level. At the turn of the year, Wilo will now take centre stage within the DHB partner network as its main sponsor. The most visible sign of this expanded partnership will be the Wilo logo on the chest of the women’s and men’s senior national team kits. Wilo is also set to feature on both teams’ training kits and on the Special Hockey Team’s sleeves.
For Wilo, involvement in hockey forms part of a wider commitment to international elite sport. The group has been the main sponsor of the German Men’s Eight in rowing for many years. Its other activities include partnering with the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA.
The collaboration between Wilo and the DHB is deliberately designed to go beyond traditional sports sponsorship. The DHB plans to set up its own foundation in India, whose work will be supported by Wilo. The aim of the project is to promote hockey as a sport, and young players in particular, locally through long-term structures. The focus will be on youth development programmes, training partnerships and specialist exchanges between Germany and India.
India is also a key market for Wilo. The group has three main production sites there. This offers Wilo and the DHB special opportunities to link their respective international activities with shared sporting and social initiatives.
